5 WAYS TO STORE Your Beauty Products.

Many times are when we forget that our beauty products collection is like a baby that we have to take great care of and protect so as to enjoy better results and enhance health safety. We often forget how to store them, where to store them away from light, heat, and humidity that might change the formula, texture, color, and scent. Here are ways you can store your beauty products neatly and safely:

Makeup
You can maintain your makeup collection by storing with proper care. Invest in a dressing table makeup organizer or a one-stop-shop for makeup organization. These makeup organizers have different sized compartments and drawers that you can store everything from lipsticks to makeup brushes in an organized manner. Storing your makeup in a cool, dry closet or room keeps them from going bad or causing an infection. Makeup products remain safe and fit for their purpose if they are stored under suitable conditions and not subjected to extreme temperatures.
The bathroom is not a safe place to store your makeup as the heat, humidity, and high levels of airborne bacteria promote the growth of yeast and mold which contaminate the beauty products. Also, store away from direct sunlight with the lids firmly closed to ensure maximum durability of the products.

Fragrances

You can prolong the shelf life of your perfume by storing it properly and upright. Store the fragrances either in their boxes, a dark cupboard, a drawer or a tray to display all your favorites. If you have to travel with your perfume use travel-friendly bottles for your favorite perfumes or a buy an empty bottle and transfer the perfume to keep it safe. Your closet is the ideal place to store your perfume away from sunlight as direct exposure for a long time can cause the scent to deteriorate. Storing fragrances in your bathroom cupboards or counters can spoil them because of the extreme fluctuations in temperature within minutes. This fluctuation destroys the molecular integrity of your perfumes and sours them swiftly. Also, avoid storing scents in places that have extreme changes in heat like your car.

Skincare products

The skin products include serums, moisturizers, and body lotions. Keep your skincare products in a cool, dark location such as a cabinet or drawer where they’ll be protected from the light. You can also store the skin products in a fridge as the freezing temperatures have an opposite effect that improves their shelf life. Keep the products away from the shower as the steam can break down the key active ingredients in these formulas, not to mention it can also create the perfect breeding ground for mildew and mold. But if you are going to store them in the bathroom then find a cabinet or a storage area behind closed doors to limit the amount of steam to which they’re exposed and ensure that they stay cool and dry for optimum results when applying. Keeping your skin products also in your car or near a bathroom window lowers their effectiveness due to direct sunlight that accelerates the degradation of many anti-aging compounds. In addition light and heat may render many active ingredients in your products ineffective.

Nailpolish

You can store your favorite nail polish bottles using clear plastic totes, drawers with non-slip mats down to prevent the nail polish from sliding around. Make sure to paint the top of each bottle cap with the color inside, so that it's easier to find the shade you’re looking for. If you want your polish bottles to last long, shake from time to time to get the formula moving but shaking vigorously can cause bubbles that make the polish apply unevenly the next time you use it. Also, screw the cap of the bottle whenever you're not using the brush to apply polish nail polish as it tends to dry quickly when it comes in contact with air whether or not it's on your nails. Store the polish in a cool, dark area, such as a refrigerator to keep your polish fresh. Nail polish can be flammable so try to store your polish away from the sunlight and other sources of heat that may affect the polish from lasting longer.

Hair products

Stock your home with a hair care organizer with metal lined compartments to store your hair straightener, curling iron, and hair dryer even when they’re hot just after use. You can also attach PVC pipes to the inside of cabinets, and use them as holsters for barrels and cords. These methods provide a safe place for storing these tools without the risk of starting a fire or melting other hair accessories. Store your hair products in a cool, dark place away from direct sunlight as some products are flammable like hairspray.
Your bathroom is also not the best place to store hair products as humidity from the showers can result in contamination and bacterial growth.
